The D’Angelo Law Library subscribes to a database created by Competition Policy International (CPI), which describes itself as “The Global Resource for Antitrust and Competition Policy”. You can access the database at https://www-competitionpolicyinternational-com.proxy.uchicago.edu/
The database includes the online version of the eponymous journal, Competition Policy International, a peer-reviewed, academic journal which CPI started in 2005. It publishes articles written by national and international antitrust experts in the academic, legal, and regulatory fields. The University of Chicago is well represented on its editorial board, which includes David Evans (Editor-in-Chief) who will teach an EU competition law course in the Spring Quarter at the Law School, Dennis Carlton, and judges Richard Posner, Frank Easterbrook, and Douglas Ginsburg. Major antitrust authors such as Herbert Hovencamp, Christopher Bellamy, and Valentine Korah also serve on the journal’s editorial board. The Autumn 2010 issue of the journal covers cartel sanctions, China’s IP licensing practices, the Chinese court decision on the Baidu abuse of dominance claim, and reprints George Stigler’s classic article, “A Theory of Oligopoly,” which the Journal of Political Economy originally published in 1964.
The CPI database includes the Antitrust Chronicle, a bimonthly publication formerly known as GCP Magazine. The Antitrust Chronicle, available only on-line, publishes articles on antitrust law, economics, and policy. The most recent issue focuses on the new horizontal merger guidelines issued by the FTC and DOJ in August 2010. See, e.g. William Blumenthal (Clifford Chance), Thy Lamp Unto the World: International Convergence After the 2010 Guidelines.
The "Hot Tub" section of the CPI database features commentary by the international antitrust community on recent developments. For instance, in June 2010, Professor Randy Picker weighed-in on the NFL licensing case in his article titled, “Organizing Competition and Cooperation After American Needle” (link for non-subscribers).
Finally, the "Commentary" section links to the following blogs: Antitrust & Competition (Daniel Sokol), Antitrust Lawyer Blog, Antitrust Today, Becker-Posner Blog (U of C’s Gary Becker & Richard Posner). It also links to CPI’s Twitter account: @CompPolicyInt.
